When is the last you had your trailer tires replaced, checked the trailer springs and repacked or replace wheel bearings? Spring time is a good time due to the amount of time the trailer may sits over the winter. Prepare now for your fun summer vacation. Wheel bearings can be dry or have rust or even weak or blown seals letting water into the hub. Water can deteriorate or even liquefying the grease in the bearing hub every time you back into the water, especially if the hub is warm after towing. Once this happens the heat, weight and friction can weld the bearing to the axle. At that time you may be looking at a complete axle replacement. If this happens on the road, a single axle trailer it can be a challenge to get home. Those dry rotted tires or a bad wheel bearing can very easily leave your boat stranded on the side of the road. Note bearing buddies do not always lube the inner bearing or remove the old grease. Campers are no exception to the rule they just don’t have to be serviced as often as a boat due to the water.
